They are saying that if there is no alarm plug in on the bonnet catch you don't need it plugged in, as it is a spare plug.

If you had an alarm, there would be a micro switch on the bonnet catch with a cable running to under the drivers head light to plug into this one. If its spare, just tape it up and leave it be
