I'm having an issue with my laptop, it's a virus and it's taking over. I've installed malware bytes free and it's detected 85 threats so far lol. And it keeps blocking a threat. It's called spyware.password
And the path is c:\ProgramData\Assistant\Assitant.dll
I've gone to my programmes and funnily enough there is a program called "assistant" and the publisher is "verifier publisher" haha so this is going to be the issue I feel.
Now I've tried to uninstall it but guessing the virus is a little advance and has put in a stop to that, as when I try to uninstall it it comes up with an error that reads " error in c:\PROGRA~2\ASSIST~1\ASSIST~1.DLL missing entry:_uninstall"
Guessing it's protecting itself from being uninstalled? How the hell do I get rid?

Right click on it. Show in folder. Then delete absolutely everything in that folder sometimes works. Also check what processes are running in task manager as it may be running something to stop you in installing. If so stop that to then try uninstall. If all else fails then restore to previous point if that doesn't work DEBAN the bugger and start again.
Stop looking at dodgy porn........

Lol it's not even the porn hahah
I barely use this laptop, but the avg virus shit hasn't been working so I'm guessing has left a nice Trojan in, when I right click it, all that comes up is uninstall
What should I look for in processes?
And DEBAN?

DEBAN is an independent program that you can run before you reinstall windows MOD use it to wipe there stuff. Just means that there is a garentee that the hardrive will be completely clean before you reinstall windows.
Ps if you go down the route just the short one will do well for you.
DBAN without the e lol.

Nothing is working, can't restore because drive c has an error or corrupt, so scan for errors, can scan for errors while in use, so set up a scheduled scan, can't set up a scheduled scan as windows task scheduler has stopped working ffs

Sounds like your best bet is going to be backup your personal data, wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows.

And I can't say I rate avast or avg very highly, I use Comodo Internet Security, and if all else fails, Hitman Pro.

Well I'd say pretty much novice, this shit stumps me. On the lookout for a hard drive to back my shit up onto, the going to wipe it. There are far too many errors on this!
Where is Fooby when you need him?

Google Rkill, and get either that or the one renamed one called iexplore. It will try to kill any malicious processes then you can run your anti-virus scan or Malware bytes.

I've ran the malwarebytes it found stuff and removed it, it's just this programme, it's the root of the problems I believe but I can't uninstall it. I honestly think the easyiest option is to kill it with fire

Use my suggestion, it kills the program, hopefully, allowing Malware bytes/AV software to remove it.

Try every internet security thing you can get your hands on as some are more effective at removing stuff than others.
Avast, Avg, the windows own one, malbytes (you already have), and hitman etc
Maybe try googling to see if there is a good way of removing it
Ive just had enough of a fight to remove that mysearchdial bastard thing

It helps if yoy know the name of whatever is causing it as you can google that and sometimes there may be specific instructions on removing it.

What kind of symptoms are you getting? Does it burn when you piss, or is it like little blisters around the base of the shaft? Don't be a fool, wrap your tool.

This. Always.
As for backing up your data, that's good, but be wary that some viruses will spread to external drives and you can end up with the same thing when you reinstall.
Oh, and when installing windows, make sure that you are not connected to the internet. Before reinstalling, save the malwarebytes, avg (or avast, Microsoft Security Essentials, etc.) to the external drive so those are the first things you install before connecting to the internet.

Yes. Reinstall windows and dont connect to the internet.
Everyone who I have seen (including myself) having trojans etc has been running avg. Every time they say because its good and free. I am fairly sure it is pants and doesnt do the job. Use Microsoft Security Essentials. Its free with regular updates and from the same company that makes the OS. no brainer imo.

In all seriousness, if you just use it for email, web browsing and listening to music... You might just be best off with a Linux distro, if you do other stuff like photoshop, syncing iphones, using some wierd and wonderful program that makes your tea every morning - it ain't going to be for you - but if it genuinely is just web browsing and playing a little music, you can't go wrong with it.
It's free, pretty easy to use, much more difficult to break by going on dodgy porn sites.
