So, my remote locking key fob was f*cked. Got a quote for repair/replacement and they said it would need a new chip and that'd need to be programmed. All to the tune of £280. f*ck that, i didn't pay that much for the car. Time to improvise.
Screwdriver - 99p
Keyring - already had
Eyelet screw - 10p
Little bit of gas from gas stove - pennies.
Price on the policeman's face when they see you open your door like this... priceless!
Still no remote central locking, but i don't really mind now i'm used to having to put the key in every time.

I didn't. I decided to just go without. Only reason i did this is instead of buying a new case for the brokey key fob cause the whole thing was pretty shit condition...

That's amazing they were going to 'reprogram' an I.R central locking fob.

Timpsons Shoe shops on the high streets can make a key with a chip in it for £40. Either take your existing key in, they can read the chip and copy it or take in the key card often found in the car's service history book and they can make a new key from that.
£280 for a key? No.

I got quoted about £200 by the dealer for a new PH3 RF key programmed. Obviously I declined! Just crazy prices.

probably, or i can tell you . . , you need 2 keys, so get one cut at key cutters, put shitty key in ignition, turn to accessory, point fob at receiver and press and hold button until light on fob goes out, (doors must be shut, forgot that) then that should be it, you may have to do all this within 60 secs of unlocking vehicle if i remember correctly . .

Youll more than likely need a 2 button remote

I don't think so, my immobilizer is key code and i don't have an alarm or anything so only button would be for central locking

My bad thought was phase 2. it's a good point if anyone is doing it with a phase 2 onwards, the transponder chip can be easily missed if you don't know it's there . .

I knew a lad who just had had his transponder glued next to his ignition barrel because he split the case and made a very close key mod as the screwdriver one :p worked just fine :L
