that's exactly what i've done Danny, looks to be all the way in but that metal clip won't quite go on properly, you know the one i mean?

Krisb did mine. Already had bits of the dash off. 70 quid and took an hour and a half. Do glad I didn't have to do it myself.

Well I managed to do this, car is mostly back together now, holds coolant and is all good, for anyone else thinking of doing the same job it's not as bad as you might think, I gave myself a couple of days and probs took me about 10 hours, I bagged all screws and labeled them, everything went back as it came out no shortcuts.
Had a funny moment on first drive with the missus, heard a hissing sound and was like oh fcuk :-( then realised I hadn't put boost gauge back :-P

Thinking about attempting this myself soon.. not to confident even with the guide on the GTI6 site i know full well ill end up losing screws and dash will never fit the way it came out

It's literally the worst job I've ever done on a 306, clutch change, engine change, beam swap, all FAR easier...
