Why would anybody spend any money on anything? There will always (within reason) be something more expensive/faster.

My car is a french shit-box in my eyes.
I also have spent way too much money on my car,and still am.Not having a dig at the person who has done it,i just cant see sense in doing it to a 1.1.
All personal preference innit.I personally don't like it but i'm sure there are plenty of people wondering why I even bother trying to tune a fifteen year old Peugeot that belches smoke everywhere and needs something fixing every other weekend
