Right, i have a 306 estate y reg 2001 1.9 diesel, the abs ring snapped so i thought i would just replace the cv joint. I went and got one from the spares place and they ordered me one using my reg number. When it cam it had teeth on the ring and not windows like mine, and then when i came to fit it onto the driveshaft it didn't fit, are there more than one kind for this model? if i get one that does fit onto the driveshaft but has teeth, will it still work?

Yea it will work but if it hasn't got teeth the abs sensor won't pick anything up and you won't have abs and a light on the dash
Team Doesn't own a 306

Shouldn't make any difference, I would have thought the gaps between the teeth and the height of them will be the same as that of the windows.
