Right im kind of looking for cully or similar for answers here.
As we all know, XU engines idle like shit normally and it generally comes down to the ICV drying out so they dont move as and when they should so ive been thinking about alternatives. So far ive come up with a in line type one from a 318is but the only issue ive come across is the wiring. most icvs are only 2 pin where as the gti one is 4 wire. Any help?
my thinking is if i can get it working correctly on the wiring side, it would be very easy to mount it somewhere over near the battery and run some rubber tubing.

2 wire will need different drivers than 4 wire
2 wire is probably a dc motor that changes the polarity to drive in and out
4 wire is probably a servo motor with 2 seperate motor windings
go look for another 2 wire ICV

I'm all for interesting mods but isn't this kind of pointless? Just buy a gen one and you'll be fine for another 15 years.

No because original ones are over £80 (and pattern ones last just as long as cleaning the original) and they dont last 15 years at all. Many are on their second icv seeing as pug did a very short recall on them!
