People questioning you on why you moddify your car. Guy yesterday was lecturing me saying, "why don't you get a decent car in the first place and leave it!"
It's a hobby! I'd be board stiff if I didn't have my Pug to mess about with on weekends.
Sorry for the rant, just does my head in lol

yes i get that and tbh the only come back is that you enjoy it!
Its cheaper (to some extent) to get a cheaper car and modify it. Why would you want to have a boring better car and blend in with all the other normals on the road!

I get this a lot and reply with 'why don't you get a decent car' because the majority of people that lecture us about modifying have shit cars and have no interest in cars. lol

If anyone asks the smoke is an auto sensing anti arsehole device.
It has a sensor inside the car that senses if anyone behind is an arsehole and if they are it smokes. The density of smoke is dependant on the density of the arsehole. Its quite a clever system really.
Or if the police pull you over. "Sorry officer my turbo is gone, im changing it at the weekend"

That's the main one for me, "Why are you bothering trying to get power from a diesel?" rubbish.
Most people just say the whole get a better car in the first place line. Although people on my road have recently realised the amount of work i'm prepared to put into the car when they see me out in heavy rain and gale force winds just trying to fix it!

I get this when people asked why I've ruined my van by lowering it too much and adding daft wheels and exhausts ect. My answer tends to be "Because standard cars are boring"

Speed really isn't everything though lol. Infact people buying new cars don't seem t care about speed anyway, so aren't overly fussed whether your shit old car with some big chavvy grinning intercooler and a droning exhaust is faster for half an hour until it falls apart again.
You have to realise, older people that only see a car as an a to b to ferret kids about in see any modified car as we see a saxo with Lexus lights and a jap can!! They automatically think you must be a chaff and a boy racer because of it, and they'd rather have thier newer more comfortable better specced car, regardless of how slow it is.....

People with proper posh cars round here mock me horrifically....until they see what the ol 306 will do....
my employers needed some antique furniture moving...his rs4 was crap...got in me 306 in one go...
a neighbour with his 4.4 X5 sport had to ask me for a lift in the snow as he was stuck at work because his 4x4 got upset with a sprinkling of the white stuff....he never mocked me and the ol 306 again.
