Could really do with confirmation about which way round the pistons go in an hdi engine. I can't find it in the Haynes manual so hoping someone has a picture from doing a head gasket or something on their engine?
Thanks for any replies

The cutouts make it pretty obvious which way they go?

I was gonna say, aren't the 'ears' where the valves will be?

Cheers for the picture. I'm still not sure though because I cant tell which side of the engine the picture was taken from. I just assumed that the circular cut outs went at the front like in an xud, but I've been told otherwise, so just need confirmation that they are at the back.

You'll need to look on your head where the valves are, then it should be obvious when you look at the block.
Or use the parts box login on here and go have a look, I'm sure there is a diagram with the pistons on alongside the block... hmmm...

Valves are at the back / nozzles sit just frontwards.

Cheers guys. I don't actually have an hdi so I couldn't look at the head etc. Thanks for the last few replies though they make it pretty clear, I found a picture of a head on eBay as well showing that valves are at the back.

I've never looked at an hdi head, so have no idea where anything is on them. Im not actually putting pistons in, I was asking for my xud build, because I've now got to turn the rods around again, so I'm just making sure its the last bleeding time!
