well the medium selfcarbonated cider is a FAIL
watch this!
i didn't shake the bottle at all
and the remaining cider tastes rank as the co2 stirs up the yeast at the bottom

well how is everyone doing that had a go at getting pissed on homebrew
Ive had a few nights pissed
and a few days with alcohol poisoning throwing up till the next day
i think my brews are quite strong Ive liked some and some are wank
favourites are
Tesco value apple juice (still)
Polish raspberry (sparkling)
Polish cherry (sparkling)
my next brew I'm going to attempt is Alcoholic Cola (sparkling)
the base for this is another Polish syrup Ive found

Tried the value apple juice (asda) tased like bum, had a bottle with the metal lid action opened it up over day and it blew the mechanism off so some fierce pressure in there.
Going to try again soon now the 45p per unit thing, thinking of trying the student wkd again
does the sugar make much difference to the tase? Been using the supermarket white sugar and all my brews taste terrible

think its the yeast that makes it taste terrible filtering and settling is the key to removing that
sugar before furmentation only increases the VOL strength i dont think it changes the taste unless you bottle early before the yeast has converted all the sugar to alcohol
im trying a different yeast to see if it does effect the taste

I've just had the first lot of the lager I brewed tastes very nice took 4 weeks total for 40 pints at around 4.7% on gravity conversion it's cost £31 all in that was
Barrel
Syphoning tube
Brew kit and yeast
Bottles
Capper and caps
Hydrometer
All in well chuffed and in doing for 2 reasons
1 saves a sodding fortune
2 I can make it to my own strength and taste

I've had to quit for the winter, no central heating so my house is too cold for it to ferment! Got a wardrobe full of stout and lager to see me through, about 90 pint bottles...

Get a heat mat or belt or cheap trick a very experienced home brewer gave me a fish tank heater put the heater in your brew and put a hole in the lid for the cable silicone the cable in to seal the hole and use the heater to hold your brew at a nice steady temp

I've already done that mate, the bulk fermentation isn't a problem, it's the secondary fermentation in bottles that's the problem
