Have you serviced it? If not then do that first.

I think he may have serviced it lol There may be a split/broken leak off pipe or similar. Have a look by the injectors to see if there is a pool of diesel Either that or you have a leak from the lines somewhere Expect to see around 550miles from a tank

Sorry, I'm retarded

So that's around 35mpg. Just checking, did the service inlcude an air filter? As said check leak off pipes. Check the tyre pressures. Check for a binding brake (does a wheel get hot after a long drive?). All that said the XUD is no great shakes fuel economy wise compared to a modern engine, I can't say what is good for a 306 but my 405 got 45mpg and my 406 gets 40mpg. If you drive them on boost then it's a lot lower.

i do 500 to a tank roughly! but if i spent too much time past 3000rpm it drinks fuel...
hows your driving? lol

Its also amazing how much they drink when they're cold. When they get a Hot then they really crack on and eat up the miles
22-10-2012, 08:51 PM
I do almost all stop-start town driving from cold in mine, hasn't had a service in years and I thrash the f*ck out of it and it does 450 to every tank, and did 590 to a tank Cornwall and back...
22-10-2012, 09:06 PM
I'm quite shocked that you guys aren't getting over 600 miles to a tank... I easily get around 800 on a regular basis in my HDi!!
23-10-2012, 07:28 AM
I usually get 450-500 miles per tank mostly spirited driving, got 575 once

It's partially because the HDI has higher gearing, and partially because direct injection is more efficient. I cancel it out with veg oil though

My old dturbo got 630 miles to a tank and 470 around town

Fill it to the brim and drive it then brim it again and work out your MPG. Its the only way to be accurate as guessing that the needle is in the same place can be over a gallon out
£30 at £1.45/l is 4.547gal 161.1 / 4.547 = 35.43mpg As above, check that your tyres are properly inflated, your brakes arent binding, your not leaking fuel from somewhere, and that your service included air and fuel filters.

Well that's what another 20 years of engine development does for you. However running on WVO my XUD has equivelent running costs to a car that gets around 700mpg. The amount you spend on 1 tank of fuel would probably get me 10,000 miles
23-10-2012, 12:35 PM
how do you guys drive? if i stay under 2k revs at 50mph i get like 42 to the gallon? is this about right?

i get 120---130 miles out of £20, about 34 mpg and it lasts 2 weeks---i do 12 miles per day in morning/evening traffic so i cant complain.

i owned a d turbo about 2 week now serviced it staraight away as soon as i got it, On my last fill up i did 39.1mpg all stop start round town, Then i had it tuned and my mpg seems to have gone up now not 100% sure what it is but looking at the gauge and how meny miles ive done this time looks like ive done a fair few more miles i think i will be over 40mpg but i will update when i fill up ;-)
Dont think ive done bad to consider my old hdi only used to get me 42mpg around town worst mpg i ever got was 38.2mpg
30-12-2012, 10:36 AM
My mpg actually shot up with the big turbo and pump tune, as long as you stay off the boost that is.
with pump tuning winding out the lda pin makes a big difference as it reduces fuel much more when not on boost, increasing mpg. Hereford to london and back on £30

UPDATE speaking to peugeout there defo is a problem apparently its the injector/s at fault but 25 a piece to check takes the pi** and then 55 pound each for new ones
28-03-2013, 07:46 PM
Best ive had is 500 off a tank.
Worst? 350. Considering u got 160 off 30 quid, and a full tank is £80, am I ok to say the maths adds up? Stop thrashing it
