So its worth it then

Im sure bosh recomend not to use injector cleaner, although I used wynns didnt make any difference what so ever
10-10-2012, 09:15 PM
Oh can it do damage then? Thought it was meant to improve mpg and running
10-10-2012, 09:17 PM
Not sure tbh didnt do any harm to mine, but then didnt make any difference to running or mpg
10-10-2012, 09:18 PM
wont do damage...they wouldnt sell else, just cleans the fuel system out and expells small flat spots.
10-10-2012, 09:20 PM
Will try it then
10-10-2012, 09:30 PM
Doesn't seem to make a difference on the hdi! Wouldn't bother tbh.
10-10-2012, 09:31 PM
Does it not...what about just to give engine a clean
10-10-2012, 09:32 PM
two stroke oil FTW!

On another car which I shan't mention it did reduce smoke and add about 2mpg, but as I said no difference on the hdi. As for it causing damage, I believe this is because it shifts the crap in the fuel lines and clogs up the injectors....but I would risk it if it made a noticeable difference lol. Also cully, dioes the two stroke work in q hdi? Does that make any difference?

They seem to make things worse in the short run, long run might see some improvement but have doubts. If you really want to be cleaning fuel systems out use bio and 2 stroke does good for your hp pumps as well

I'm finding the synthetic 2 stroke better than the mineral versions
its a little more expensive put performance is better an so is mpg
As Chris and Steve say, injector cleaner/diesel cetane booster/generic miracle products are a load of nonsense, and yes they can damage your HP pump. Cigarettes can give you cancer, but "they" are allowed to sell those... Bosch recommend you don't use any fuel additives with their CR pumps as it's not good for the seals, something echoed by my local diesel specialists. Although interestingly when i mentioned two-stroke in a CR they said it should be fine, maybe that's worth a try.

How much 2 stroke would need to be added to a full tank might try it my self lol

Never done on HDis... But on XUD9s it quietens down the injector pump a lot and I found it definitely makes the injection noise a bit quieter, just felt smoother... That was over a prolonged peroid of tests... I could always feel the difference with it in....
Lucas pump it definitely made quieter, Bosch not so much, but the actual injection noise it definitely changes - from a sharp clack to a more muted "clock" noise... Whether that's helping combustion, feck knows, some might say it's causing it to reduce the cetane and not burn as quick... Who knows... It'll definitely help the pump though with todays ultra low sulphur diesel... Back when VE pumps were made, they were designed for very high sulphur content in Diesel...

...but this is the HDi section... :p
