Just because I can, i've finally decided to build and buy my new PC.
Specs below:
I will be re-using my old Tagan 800w 4x12v rail Modular PSU and BFG Tech 9800GTX OCX2 GPU. I will buy a newer gfx card if my old one isn't up to scratch, but it was pretty powerful last time I used it so I'll give it a try.

I'm guessing you bought the i7 since you're not upgrading your GPU? You know there's not any real benefit to it over an i5 unless you're doing anything that can utilise hyper threading?
Pretty damn good spec though. I nearly bought my i5 3570k last night as it had dropped by nearly 20 quid, but didn't want to use my credit card on this computer, by the time anyone at home saw my message about ordering it for me, it had gone back up again

All that spec, then still using a 9800GTX. Still not a 'bad' GPU but won't play many modern games at a decent frame rate while still looking nice.
If you're looking for a decent GPU for not much money a HD6870 isn't bad shout. Had one for a while, then went cross-fire with them and demolished most games tbh!

Yeah I'm being told the same about this card. I mean, it is quite a few generations old. But I paid a lot of money for this back in the day and I cannot force myself to buy another one until I can see for myself that its no longer suitable.
Edit: just noticed, that card is 4 years old!!... christ..
If i was to get a new card I'd get a Nvidia 670 gtx.
@scott, not really done much research between the i5 and i7 but I figured it would be better regardless. Its not too much more expensive so I thought i'd just go for that.

Definitely go with the 670 GTX! The 660TI is cheaper but the price difference does show quite dramatically in performance
Have you just ordered the parts and are waiting for them to arrive to build now then?

Yeah, i've been reading about the 670/680 etc etc and even the 660 the best bang for buck is the 670, they are great cards, especially the wind force editions.
Worst case if i really need the power i could just get 2x 670's in SLI, but that's a tad insane, as SLI (IMO) is mostly for multiple monitors/big resolutions.
I'll be getting the 670gtx if this 9800 just isn't up to it.
I have just ordered it yeah, due for delivery tomorrow, wont be home till Thursday though. So it will hopefully be waiting for me when i get home to spend the weekend building/playing

Good man Unless you're doing a 3+ monitor setup, then you won't need to go SLI. What monitor have you got at the moment by the way?

Where does the flux capacitor go?
I have no idea what any of this means.
On the 306 waiting list.

I've got a 5 year old Dell 2407FPW. Great monitor.
I'll probably be getting a 3 monitor setup at some point, but i'm just waiting since i've not really found 3 monitors, good enough quality/spec with thin enough bezel to make it as seemless as possible. We'll see. I'd go 2x 670SLI then.

You'll be wanting 670's in SLI for when 4k/2k monitors come out.. IF they can handle the detail

In all fairness, a computer can provide boost, but not the epic sort your car has! worth it IMO

I have an asus gtx560ti 448 going for fairly cheap if you want it? Not been used much at all as it was going to be part of a tri-sli setup. keep the 9800 for physx! Also, nice choice on the mobo, they clock up really well and also look pretty
