So I'm getting fed up having to get the car higher with the scissor jack to be able to get my jack in, so am looking at a low entry jack.
Thinking about this:

Anyone got a low entry jack they could recommend? Or had any experience with any at all?

this is not a bad idea grant, i also have to scissor my car before i can get anywhere and usually lose a knuckle or 2 in the process, puts me off work a LOT
EDIT : BE AWARE INC VAT ITS £107.99!
theres the same jacks on the bay for lower prices delivered
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-2500LE ... 45fdb164d9 <-- this one very similar, besides lifting 2.5 tonne (plenty) and has a lower minimum saddle, 10mm lower..
same but cheaper... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QUALITY-SEALE ... 3cb52ca6c6

Dont go for that one, its overpriced once you add the VAT, it dosent go as low as the Sealey SL2500LE and its heavier.
Ive got a SL2500LE and its awesome, got it for £80 off ebay about 2 years ago and its never missed a beat.
Also costco are selling a low entry jack atm that lifts 3tonne and has a slightly longer reach (under the car) than the sealey jacks
Ive gotta be honnest id love a low entry - high lift jack, 80mm min entry, almost a meter max lift.

Heres the pics of the SL2500LE on my old car that was on the bump stops.
When it was at max lift at the back corner it was pushing the front bumper into the concrete.
If you get one you will wonder how you ever managed to do without one, taking the wheels off the car now takes a third of the time and effort.

Ah, I've been looking for one of these!
Although the golf looks high, the jack point is bent and I cant get the jack under the chassis! Plus my jack has a tiny handle and 'round bit' (saddle?)...plus it falls apart everytime I jack my car up lol.
Will ask for one for my bday but £90 is still a bit much to ask for.......will have to think about it. :point:

Tom ask for it and say if its too much youll pay part, then they say yes and never ask for the money, always works on my parents.
Kris your jack says 2 Tonnes and 2 Ton. Which one is it cos 2 Ton is only 1814kg and 2 Tonnes is 2000kg so theres quite a difference there

Haha, never spotted that chris.
I guess it's safe to say it's comonly known as a 2ton jack which will be rated to 2 tonnes.

I dunno, its odd, Everything in this country has to be sold in f ucking metric including jacks and axle stands so i dont see why they do that.
Also If they rated it at 2300kg they could sell it as 2.3Tonnes over here and 2.5Ton in america.
I think someones f*cked up cos theyer 2 different weights. Ask the snap on man next time he comes round.

Sort of, at least I thought this was the case. Having Wiki'd it it states that a metric ton is 1000kg, so if it were 2 metric ton then it would be 2000kg. If it is a British ton then it is actually 1016kg (long ton) but if it is an American/Canadian ton then it is 907kg (short ton) as you pointed out. So I'd have to guess it's referring to a metric ton And yes I know it should then be stated as 2 tonnes to reduce confusion, but then there are still people who don't realize that there is a difference.

Kris how do you get on with that jack bearing in mind it's got quite a small cup on it?
I'm looking at getting either one of these or a blue point race jack if I can stretch to it!

Low entry jacks are a good idea, but what I do is drive up on a block/brick and then I can fit the normal jack underneath the car
Edit: FOR SALE, Concrete blocks £40 - That's a 50% saving on your 2ton jacks!

I tend to put the axle stands under the jacking points on the sill so that the are out of the way when working under the car, this becomes a problem when there is a jack there already

Nope a metric "Ton" is a Tonne and not actually a Ton as a Ton is an imperial measurement.
I went for the american Ton conversion (at 907kg) as its blue point / snap on and i assume theyer an american company.
However neither a long Ton or a short Ton are a Tonne.

It also says 2 Ton which could be 1814kg or 2032kg so actually it couldnt get much more unclear.

LMAO this has gotten a tad more confusing that at first.
Dum-Dum, that jack you have looks good.
Seen this one on the bay, and although the branding is unclear, and the LEDs are a complete gimmick, it doesnt look too bad. It has all the relevant BS certifications if you look at the pictures below, and above all it looks quite sexual...
