Well ive woken up this morning with a hell lot more money in my account than i thought i had.
Checked the system and an ex employer (googled the Bank Giro Credit name) has paid me what looks like a months wages. I have not worked for this company for 2 and half years...
What would you do?

Phone them, inform them of the error, and send the money back.

As tempting as it would be to keep it I believe this could be classed as fraud?
Also, just think of the karma!

I had this at an old workplace although it was about 3 months later. I went to the bank and they said if its an error on their front they can ASK for it back although they can't take it back
I kept quiet on that one then got a phone call a few weeks after from the old employer (still had the money set aside) and they said if anything odd happened to my account? I said nope and that was the end of that

As much as I'd want to keep it, I'd have to phone up. Just because guarantee a shit deal would come out of it

At the end of the day, you are not at fault. It's their error. I would have been inclined to stick it in a separate account an keep it for a year or so. Keep quiet and See if they say anything

If they were arse holes, keep it for a bit, see if anything comes...
Maybe I'm just an arsehole?

They legally cannot take it without consent, there would have to be a legal judgement,
Take it out and put it to one side for a period of time and see what happens if that makes sense?

I'm hoping they owe it also. Good employer to be fair. I've rang them anyways and now awaiting to hear back. Not going to chase them. I've read up on places and few people have been prosecuted for keeping and spending etc so rather not risk it. I could do with the money but I'm just hoping no one has gone without pay who works for the company.

Think about it really, of they had under paid you and you didn't realise, would they pay you back? No... Im of the thinking of f*ck em, screw them for everything they can, cause that's what they do to you

This happened to me, they contacted me pretty sharpish though, and I said I wasn't going to go to the effort of sending a cheque or anything, but ended up doing a bank transfer back to them. Was gutted, could've done with the extra grand

To be fair, even if you were feeling like a royal lady garden and said take me to court, chances are they won't. Small claims courts often dont bother for anything less than a grand, then court fees, time etc, it wont be worth their time...
