no engine light? - no start

when i go to start, i have no engine light, i keep switching on and off until it comes on. once it comes on, i know it will start. immobilieser? even though its an unlocked ecu?
any ideas would be greatful

Doubtful that it's an immobiliser. More likely to be a dicky ignition barrel or a misbehaving relay or something.
