my cars in having the cambelt done
so today the wife and me went off to Exmoor for a drive in her car 206 HDI 90
she has wrecked it......well battered it to be more to the point
front suspension is banging brakes are on the floor and its stinks hot and is gutless
so tomorrow
got to look at
Brakes
suspected drop-links
CAT i suspect its blocked
lets hope its not going to rain
cars! more money on her car now!

this is what i would do in this situation. first up look at the brakes then check the coolant and oil is cool then go out for some ragging to clear out the cat

been ragging it most of the day has improved a little
i may be disecting the cat tomorrow if i can get it off
coolant/oil has been normal all day car smells hot from the underside

hmm as long as its not plooming smoke on hard acceleration then i would say the cat's clear

now i know why i hate working on cars!
just had to disc cut the drop link off both arb and strut ends and ive only started on the one side
brakes arnt working on one side of the disc
all the guides and slides are solid
so new droplinks and discs and pads

So you've done no maintenance on this thing before then?
Worst sliders I ever saw were my neighbours Focus which had full ford service history. His discs stayed rusty, the cause being the fact the sliders were solid with rust flakes, literally.

nope never had the wheels off had the car for year and a half
have done the fluids and filters though at service time
car drives like new again now, with new brakes and links and its got its go back
so the brakes must have been dragging too
£64.94 not bad for that lot

my favorite method of getting droplink bolts off is to gun them on more till the bolt snaps off. good tip there for those with an impact gun
