Is there any specific component on the gti6 engine that causes the torque to start dropping at high rpm? Is it all the camshaft design or is it a combination or a few things I.e head and manifold design?

What cams are worth fitting? From what I've read it seems the pistons need to be pocketed if decent cams are fitted.

yeh you need pocketed stuff for anything decent. Its an interference engine so the valves and pistons operate in the same space. Hence the amount of damage done to heads causing "tappers"
