refurbished wheels?
#1
I had a set of wheels blasted and powder-coated, I have not used these wheels yet but have noticed the wheel to hub seating area has been powder-coated too,

would it be a good idea to remove this area of coating to get a metal to metal seat to bolt the wheels with?

im thinking the powder coat may get soft and stick the two mating surfaces together causing issues else.

to leave or remove?

I would remove myself, as would i remove the coating at base of bolt holes, I have seen wheel bolts loosen up over this exact issue before, and it is a common problem on agri wheels! Normally just ringing the bolts up a few times/ removing lossens it enough to just flake out....

Yeah.
On rallye wheels, often get coating each new season.
So beginning of year we spend time decoating the mating faces. We had a long drill bit/wire wheel for the bolt faces

definitely remove, they'll never balance up properly and they can come loose, they wont stick to the hubs.

tis always better to have clean surfaces to mate to. Paint, or powder coat is generically soft compared to alloy, and thus will squish. So remove before installation for best results Smile
