Anyone want to buy my 206 HDi ECO and save me breaking it, I reckon I'd make £800 breaking it so lets call it £700 whole as I have to name a price.
It's a bit of a shit box, it's proper povo spec. Back seats removed with wood floor partially fitted, reclining buckets (only one fitted, other is loose) fake OMP wheel on QR boss, coilovers all the way down and beam lowered 80mm, 406 coupe 16" ET12 wheels with 205/45R16 tyres, arches rolled (doesn't catch) 302mm front brakes. Fmic fitted and all new piping is sitting in a box waiting to go on.
It's tatty, it's pink not red, pas removed, replacement brake lines were done by a chimp (not me), I've had to weld a massive patch on the sill as the last owners repair was dog shite and the underside needs a good coating of waxoyl or similar.
On the up side it turns heads and really does daft fuel economy, like genuinely 60mpg sitting at 70-75mph. Mot till July IIRC and it's on 164k. I've done over a thousand miles in it since Friday morning without a single issue and am confident that it would do the same again tomorrow if i wanted to.

The plan is spend the money on my new toy. I'll let you know if I end up breaking it. I'll probably have decided by the weekend as I strongly doubt anyone would want to buy the whole car.

Is the gearbox really that different from a 306 hdi unit?
I think I'm at 2400 @ 70mph this is 2200?

Standard HDi is actually 2450rpm at 70mph according to the ECU, so my maths say that makes this 2205rpm all factors being equal.
The difference is effectively all in the final drive, 19X63 ratio in the ECO and 19X70 ratio normally (but no you can't just drop the 63 tooth crown wheel in, actually you could but it doesn't mesh, you get the point.)
I reckon it makes a pretty huge difference, probably added 10% or more to my MPG over the weekend and the difference in engine noise is substantial when cruising. Also a stage 2 tuned HDi will make the standard gearbox feel very very short, In a standing quarter mile you'd be crossing the finish line in 4th which makes for alot of gear changes although 1st is so short you can be quicker launching in 2nd. This would mean less changes for anyone going quickly as you stay in the power band longer in each gear.

I'm all for extra gearing, wish 5th in my hdi was like a 6th, got the torque so great for motorway cruising in.
Just doesn't seem like enough, but if it's the easiest oem solution then great!

I'm actually trying to get a refund on it as 2 of the LEDs have died. If I don't get my money back I'll sell you the replacement for £30, I'll even throw in the relay and the on-off-on switch I've been using (on with high beams-off-on with no other lights)
