Hi all,
Im about to freshin up my xud.
Planning on , gov mod, lda grind , plenty of boost on t2
Aiming for 150 bhp.
I've crank seals, top end gasket kit,new head studs new clutch, timing belt.
Is there any point in changing the rods to hdi ones?
Just to be safe?
I want a reliable motor, so I wont be changing the turbo unless i go down the forged route.

With rods staying in the block it's all luck of the draw. They will blow completely standard
You are very unlucky to get 150bhp with a t2 and if you do get anywhere near that the turbo will be on it's very limit with it more likely to be unreliable.
Better off changing the turbo to something like a gt20 and not running massive boost

150 is possible just about on a T2, I made 135 on a K14 without fmic, I'd say with a front mount and a little more fuel you could get close to 150
Phase 1 D-Turdo, K14@24 psi, De-cat, meaty backbox, Bosch pump, grinded LDA pin, duel air fed K&N =133.7bhp & 188ft/lbs

Amount of heat being made...unlikely things will last very long. If not the rods, turbo will poo itself!!

As long as mark is running 200+ on standard internals I can't justify the bother of HDi/Forged rods.
