Weird electrics Car wont start :(
#1
My car has got a strange problem when I go try to start it, it wont turn over like the battery is flat but it isnt, as I turn the key all the dash lights dim and clock, the speedo needle jumps up and down and cd player flickers. Before I turned the car off earlier the fuel guage stopped working I wondered if anyone could shed some light as to why it wont start Sad. Its a 95 D-turbo.

Cheers
Joe

Yeah check the earths. Your needle going crazy when you turn the key means flat battery but it if its not that it must be a connection somewhere

When I had crazy needles and the car wouldn't start it was because the earth connection on the battery had worked loose

As said, Check all earth straps. If not, under the radiator cradle there's a wirinf loom goung from engine to drivers compartment fusebox. There's a massive black cable about 10mm2 in size, Check that this hasnt corroded.

Whilst checking this, I'd reccomend disconnecting the battery because this loom is susceptible to corrosion because of it's positioning.

Hope you find all your problems soon mate, and report back with your findings Smile

P.S Don't forget the pictures Wink
