I got a mid section of a 1.6 8v and was funna use it for a backbox on my hdi but puglove has made a good point of petrol exhausts made to give back pressure can is it still safe to use for a back box or do I need a hdi midsection to modify ??

Don't use anything from a petrol unless it's supra lol, they're just too restrictive, will ruin your spool and cut off your top end as well.

The midsection will still be a straight thru design, but will likely have a diameter of about 2 inches or something daft, thus being restrictive. It's only the.back boxes that have the baffled, restrictive design. A centre off a gti or an xsi would probably work, as the bore is larger.

I think the gti's have 2" dia, the 1.6 pipe i had floating about was even smaller than that. As a guide; the HDi std item is 2.25", so anything smaller than that will be restrictive.

Gtis are same as the xsi, 2.25, I *think* parts of the cat might even be 2.5... But don't quote me on that lol
