Sometimes they go cheap on Amazon. Also look for a hdi 90 406, xantia or xsara clutch.

Can anyone tell if this clutch is worn or still pretty new?

I can't really tell the depth of the grooves from that photo, but it looks as though the shallow one at the bottom has worn all the way through, so its quite worn? If it's out fit a new one, I can get some clutches for about £30 from Euro with my discount sometimes.

Its a second hand valeo clutch i've found, apparantly only done 2000miles until the car was written off. £15 posted without the bearing
all depends how it was driven in them 2000 miels as it could have been driven by some who uses the clutch like the accelerator so thay will slip it all the way to 4000rpm then lift of it a bit and so on till 30mph is reched, so it could be a pos

I see what your saying though.

I heard Frosty is breaking a black ph1 that has an ideal clutch in for a XUD conversion style clutch mechanism.

Driving a slipping clutch is fine, just be sympathetic. It's driving on a knackered release bearing that you want to avoid.

Can wear down to the point of rivets etc though and cause flywheel damage.

Lol i assumed he wasn't going to drive it like that for a few months, and tbh you'd be amazed at how long they'll keep going without damage if you're gentle.

I'm driving it as gently as a can, no hard accelerating or anything. It doesnt slip unless you really out your foot down but just feels like a standard hdi now lol

I drove on a slipping one for 4 months after remapping, and not gently either...
Must admit, the fly was a bit blue when I removed it.

My clutch lasted a week after remapping lol it seems to have settled down a lot more now compared to when it first started slipping. I'll be using it a lot less for a bit, just got an e36 318s coupe today lol

Sometimes you even find they rebed themselves after you let them slip a few times. Happened with my own, has its moments now and again but on a v. strong stage 1 lol
