So, bit of an update… Double checked the timing and fired it up with the lucas pump on and really struggled to start, it tried a few times to fire but wouldn’t hold out. So cracked off the injectors to make sure there was defiantly no air in the system, no air just plenty of diesel lol. So went to check the timing again and the b*stard decided to jump 3 teeth, so thought it would be game over with that head but just on the off change retimed the engine and bang stated straight away, very lucky….
So went to bleed the coolant system and discovered the blower motor wasn’t working anymore, and the dash is completely dead. No switches are working and when you switch the side lights or headlight on the dash powers up and still nothing works, anyone any ideas?

if everything is broken sounds like a bad earth or maybe there is a relay that turns everything on?

That’s what I was thinking tbh but the only earth strap that came off the dash was hidden behind the center console and it is defiantly back on, for the dash to power up when the headlight are switched on is very odd. Tried unplugging everything and checking it each time I reconnected something, really stuck for wtf is the cars problem. CULLY HELPPPP lol

So more of an update…. Still couldn’t work out the dash wiring issue so pulled the dash out again to check all the wiring and found… Bugger all. After a bit of testing figured it was an earth hidden away somewhere but the only one that was taken out for the dash bolted in behind the centre console and just seems to earth the radio and couldn’t find any others tucked away. Moved on the fuse box in the bay and found the earth had been moved for whatever reason so cleaned up its original mounting and bolted it on and bang dash worked straight away. So dash back in again, only thing that didn’t connect correctly was the speedo cable, seems to be the wrong one but that can be sorted later. Front end back on and took it out a test run…

Bit of an update... Been mainly busy with the 306 (3 k14s in 2 days lol) so new drop links, ball joints, front bushes, p bushes and anti roll bar bushes fitted and had it out another test run... 3rd gear grinds like a champion so spare gear box is going in within the next few days other that that the engine itself is a fit going one but pump and turbo still to be fine tuned so keep posted...

Will attempt to get photos later if not tomorrow, always find when you stop working at something for 5 minutes you end up pissing about and not getting anything done haha
