Stalk audio control

Has anyone ever or ever known of a 206/307 stalk control retrofit to a 306?

Had one in my old 207 and worked and felt far better that the 306 4 way controller.

Just needs the hole big enough and the cable routing through behind the headunit.

Cheers.

I believe that stalk goes through the CANBUS protocol, nothing like how the 306 stalk works. Not a case of drilling a hole and running a cable through.

I had one a while ago I took apart with the idea to mod the functions of the 306 4 way controller onto the relevant buttons on the 207 stalk, but internally the 207 stalk is harder to mod (PCB wise) I gave up on the idea.
I do prefer that design though, I'll pull the project out again soon and have a go with it.
I modded a 406 stalk to ft the 306, and am using the rotate function to adjust volume currently, but even that doesn't work so easily. I plan to make some simple small SPST button array and control it that way for true one finger never slip off or skip track accidentally function!

Ah I see. I haven't taken one apart or even looked into it I just prefer them by far!

I never thought about it but I guess the 206 stalk goes through the bsi in some way then? Same as the standard stereo goes through it to display upon the built in screen on the 206 dash?

That is a CAN stalk, yes. Won't be able to retrofit it to a 306. The older non-CAN 206s use the same stalk as the ph3 306s.

Was handy to find out before I started attempting. Cheers lads Smile

My plan was to wire/solder into the PCB, so it can be done, but not plug and play, and you won't get all the functions.

But that would just end up being the same as the existing ph3 stalk in a different shape. Confused
