Erm from what I can remember, plastic inlet manifold, smaller throttle body, slightly different head(?), gearbox, suspension, ecu

XSi were 8v/16v

S16 was the model up, with 5 speed

GTi-6 was the S16 with a bit more power and a 6 speed gearbox

Xsi 16v is more similar to the gti6 than s16...

S16 is essentially A 405 engine with a plastic manifold

XSi 16v is the 136hp XU10J4R engine
GTi-6 is the 167hp XU10J4RS engine

Whilst in theory the RS is a tuned version of the R, in reality it's easier listing what is the same between them - block, crank, sump and flywheel and a few sensors. Almost everything else is different - head, pistons, cams, valves, valve springs, manifolds, throttle body, injectors, fuel rail, ignition, loom, ECU to name but a few.

The majority of the RS parts can be fitted to an R though, hence it being popular to fit the cams and manifolds and liberate a fair amount of power.

The 1.8 16v (XU7JP4) is again a similar design and many of the top end and bolt-on parts can be moved across - it's alloy block and both smaler bore and lower capacity, and the head has inlet ports that are quite deliberately restrictive.

Earlier S16 is the 2.0 Mi16 (XU10J4) engine which is pretty much an iron block version of the 1.9 Mi16 engine and has little in common with the later engines - head, cams, manifolds, pistons etc all different.

Both should be the same - 20mm torsion bars and 24mm anti-roll bar.

Oil pump pressure is identical at 6 bar - whilst the pump casting is slightly different** they both use an identical relief spring (115711) and piston (113313)

Indeed, as far as I'm aware, all the XU10 series engines - 8v and 16v - have 6 bar oil pumps fitted.

** - I've seen a few J4R's that have the RS pump as standard, so I think that despite what Servicebox says it was pot luck what pump was fitted to the J4R's.

The suspension on the ph2/3 xsi is the same as the 6 , but has the 266mm calipers, & the engine drives very differently lol
