I intend to own this van for as long as I need a van.

And in case anyone was wondering, I did cut out the inner arch as well.
Most new panels, except the wings, are galvanised.

Haven't had much time on it recently but some filler, sanding and a bit of primer has occurred.
I'm getting towards needing it done so have to make more time for it. ![[Image: post-19867-0-16645500-1487707234.jpg]](http://autoshite.com/uploads/monthly_02_2017/post-19867-0-16645500-1487707234.jpg) That arch is finally done.
Only three more to go.
If I learned anything from doing it, it was to remove as little as possible, without leaving any rust.
I cut away too much and left myself with next to no reference to put it back right. If the inner wings were the same as the old ones I don't think it would have been so hard.
Luck was on my side and it tuned out OK in the end.

Opposite side front next.
Working my way up to the back one that is the worst, panels available so shouldn't be too hard.
I hope. Thought I'd make a start on the back arch on the same side as it doesn't look as bad as the others.

Nice to see one of these being saved. I really like the smiley face Transits. I got to drive a couple of rental ones when they were still brand new, it was like a Rolls Royce compared to the poxy Sherpa I drove regularly.
I might be doing a bit of welding on a newer one soon, having the panels makes things soooo much easier

Rear arch repair panels turned up today. Have a three day weekend as well.
Yes, they do Darren, my last one was on 275,000 odd.
Gonna boost this one, I have an RHF5 in the shed.
Did you run a wastegate on your Td04 set up?

Nope, gate was welded, 40psi at the manifold, took it all day long, even with the inline pump!

Transit!
Doesn't look too bad tbf, fair play for taking it on though. Welding up a transit of any age is no job for the faint-hearted, let alone one that's 20 odd.

Totally agree with that. As a 19/20 year old lunatic driving one with virtually no weight in it because your doing damp-proofing I thoroughly tested the handling when it finally got up to speed.

This one doesn't look too bad tbh, certainly much better than most Disco's of a similiar age.

Thanks for the comments. It is not actually that bad, all wheel arches, as standard, have rotted.
Bottoms of the back doors, again, standard.  Front strut tops, normal behaviour.
And the small holes in the chassis.  Not too bad for a 20 year old Transit.
Eleventy times better than my last mk6 was. It'll probably owe me about £700-£800 when it's done, a fair price I think.  ( man hours not included, a la wheeler dealers :-)

Obviously, need new inner rear arches as well. Was hoping to repair what was rotten but the shapes are too complex so new panels are needed.
No shock really, just more money.

It should be a motto for everyone!
In fact it's a good name for a band, write that down.
I can see it now, "Live on stage tonight, O2 arena London, it's.... THE SMILEY TRANNYS" crowd goes wild, baseline drops, you get the picture.
