Hi, hope this is the right thread. I was hoping for some help with my peugeot 306 break (2001) with an 2.0 L 90hp HDi (RHYDW10TD) engine in it.
Problem: Earlier this week i was driving when i pressed down the clutch and the clutch stayed down. However the clutch stayed engaged and the car kept on pulling forwards. At this point i believed the clutch cable snapped, but as it turnes out, as i lifted the clutch back up with the top of my foot it started acting normally again. However after this the same thing would happen occasionally, which in my opinion isnt really desirable.
Theory: So my theory is that the clutch cable pedal rod holder is worn so that the cable can slip out of its place and suddenly latch on again.
Soulution?: Following this theory ive attempted to remove and inspect the cable holder, however this turned out to be a really difficult as the space is cramped. Have therefore not yet been able to inspect the part.
Stupid mistake: As i tried to make more space to remove the clutch pedal, i removed the (helper?) spring attached to the clutch pedal. In doing so i broke some tabs attaching it to the pedal. Afterwards the pedal still worked fine, maybe a bit harder. My question here being: Is that spring necessary or could i just leave it out?
Questions:
Is there a good way to remove the clutch cable holder?
Could it be anything else thats wrong?
