Struggelig to compress the trailing arms by hand, so I can get the last bolts in on the rear dampers. Will it be easier to just do this when the beam is back on the car?

Get someone to stand on the trailing arm when you do it. Or put it back on the car and use a jack to lift it.

I put the bottom bolt through first, then you can put a foot on the trailing arm and pull on the mounting bracket to get enough movement to get the bolt in. It can also sometimes help if the mounting bracket bolts are a bit loose for a little bit of extra wiggle.
