Ecu id issues

Hi hope someone can help. Trying to get my hands in to remapping for my own knowledge. I understand the principles but got a issue have read my ecu and when i look at what issues numbers where used for the 306. Mine doesnt match. Mine fits in the 206 bracket so a bit confused i know of over run and cross model use, but just wondering if anyone has any info.
