So I got a message from her the other day
"im going to look at a car, its a saxo just at the end of the road. only £525"
"okay well wait til i visit in the next couple of weeks if you can so I can go with you as there's things to check (i.e rear beam, hg, hpi etc) " - i say
"okay" she replied
come back to phone 20 minutes later
"it's 58000 miles"
"it's recently been serviced"
"it was their granddaughters car"
"i love it..."
"i bought it"
So anyway going to give it a service for her when I get home for pugrun just to make sure it's in as good as condition as it can be for her. Won't leave it up to the parents as mum used to think having a mot meant it had the oil changed, when I dropped the oil out her fiesta even though the engine was hot it came out like porridge, hadn't been done once in the 8/9 years shes owned it i think.
Anything in particular for me to scan over when I get back? It's a 1.0L instead of a 1.1 apparently so dont know what differences that makes to the general engine/drivetrain

Yeah that's a 1 lite Peter, not bad cars really, basic but a wise old steed.
Just usual, beam, HG, I've seen the oil crank seal go on a few.
Check the OSF of the block closely for oil leaks.

Shouldn't be any issues really. Just standard rust in the usual 106/saxo places (everywhere lol). If she's bought it anything thats gone is gone.
Oh and the brakes will feel terrible as they will be the 247mm solid discs (the same set up as the shite on the back of the GTi6). Only upgrade worth doing for her would be getting a set of 266mm HDi/XSi calipers and discs.

Cheers JJ I'll have a look around the block, will give the inside of the arches a looking over as well .
She'll be 17 and only just on the road driving so don't think she'll be wanting to do modifications...although if I declare its a safety feature..

It's a 954cc TU engine, 45bhp. My mate had one and they are brilliant, you can thrash them to death everywhere without worrying about your license!

FPMSL thats so true! My wifes first car was the same...unfortunately the head gasket went and she was heart broken, lol I was glad to see the back of it great first car though,
Slam it - say 'suspension will be better as its new'
Exhaust it - say 'stainless lasts FOREVER!'
Induction-kit it - say 'fuel consumption will be increased'
Sell it - say '306 HDi or D-tub is better'
she looks clean though...the car I mean

Awesome, I've never had a threesome with siblings, surely it's only one step short of the threesome with twins (or mother daughter threesome) goal
