Ignition feed to radio
#1
Which colour cable going to the radio is ignition live or whatever it's called?

Want to take a feed from it so gauges only use power when ignition is on. I was going to use a live feed with a switch but would rather use ignition if possible.

Cheers!

I can't remember the colour off the top of my head. Don't you have a multimeter handy?

Yeah I have a multi meter, stick in in a plug, turn ignition to, measure voltage, rinse repeat? Surely they all see voltage when ignition is turned to?

Cheers Dan, so that would be... no 4... Uhh... Yellow? Big Grin

Ahh. I needed an ignition live to wire mt radio in my new one. It only has two permanents onmine. Tried moving fuse then had nothing. So gave up and wired it to live. Cbe for messing about.

Btw for the gauges there are plenty of ignition lives elsewhere if need be. Smile

Well all my cables are coming out the dash above the radio so thought would be easiest to take from there.

What wires else where can I use then? Never messed about with cutting wires at the ignition barrel so would appreciate in depth "dummy" advice.

How many gauges are you using? Surely it would be better to use the ign+'Ve from the barrel? Less stress on the wiring if you have a few gauges then too Smile

Err. Currently there is 4. There will likely be 7 in the future.

Currently have: Oil pres, oil temp, EGT, boost.

Would like to get: water temp, additional boost, EMP.

Not all of these require a live and the light live is coming off the side lights.

So which cable is the ign+ at the barrel Grant?

You're the man with a multimeter. I'm on the underground! Haha.

Have a pone around and see what comes live with the ignition Smile
