Ok, so if you have 306 lenses which are designed for HIDs, auto height adjusters and lense sprays then its legal... but I dont know yet of any company producing lense for the 306 designed for HIDs. Found the one I got mine from http://www.dubmeister.co.uk/webshop/uk-l...al-plates/ As said in my earlier post, I went to one of their dealers with my documents so they couldn't get lost in the post.

Of course they aren't in a car that came with them from factory otherwise they would never of been let into the country lol

Type approval is basically a massive test a new model of car has to go through and pass before its allowed on sale in the UK. They check all sorts of things from emissions to lumens given out by lights, beam patterns, safety features to mention but a few! Once a model has passed type approval, it can be sold in the uk. If you wanted to get around it for what ever reason though, you would just buy a car in another country and import it although the only real effected difference would be things like light patterns

Although you have fitted all the parts to make them legal, they still never passed type approval with them so technically, yes they are illegal. Also, im interested to see where you get a aftermarket HID kit with levellers. And I'm pretty sure washers aren't needed any more

I suppose people do assume the law and MOT are the same.
To be honest I only use HIDS as the yellow halogen bulbs look terrible on my car, combining with the fact I have projector headlights so the 6000k HIDS look white and modern, rather than blinding people like people who fit them to non projector & frosted style lenses. I could get self levellers by retro fitting AFL running gear but tbh they passed the MOT like it and don't blind so I couldn't care less, old bill up & down the country have seen them too

Yeah the MOT test should pick up on aftermarket HIDs but we all know that some testers are lenient and also, parts of the test are testers opinion or discretion.

Surely this would make it a legal modification, otherwise every modification no matter big or small would be illegal...

I've seen plenty of 'street legal' blue sidelights and LED washer jets etc. I suppose that's where buying from a reputable brand comes in.

Im pretty sure it only has to be visible and clear for the mot. Its the police that get fussy about who made them and all the jazz. Personally down here in the depths of Cornwall i cant see it being an issue. As in i see a traffic car once a month if that and most of the time they dont even bat an eyelid at the 205.
Doesnt even own a 306.
