They are generally for show cars and just used when travelling to/from shows or when generally driving long distances on motorways etc. Iv seen people cover the front end of their car in masking tape stuff before because they have spent hours if not days detailing their car for a show and dont want to get there with an army of dead flys stuck to their car lol
