Well after looking at numerous 406 hdis all of them being shite I saw a cheap little 405 gldt estate.
I love that its a bit retro. Its 2 owners from new, 151k, d8a block (found the little engine plate with it on) just had a new clutch, cambelt, water pump and brakes and tyres all round. It was up for £600 got it for 450.
Plans are slight tune to bosch pump (already on veg) lows and sort the paint out as it needs a damn good polish.

Banded steels are on order already lol.
Just need to get it low but not stupidly as the spped humps round here are insane.
Im not sure about the turbo as I need it as reliable as my nad has just decided it doesnt like having rods in the engine.
I literally started the nad to go to work abd bang
I wasnt impressed

Towed home to find all the steel lines were completely rotten.
Rang Peugeot and the replacement was £346 +vat!!!!!
My bro works at pirteck got him to make me full hoses, same stuff as truck air brake lines, and they hold some pressure !!

check the insides of the front wheel arches. all my 405's liked to have a little rust spot there, and its an estate so crawl underneath and check the rear bumper isnt full of mud slowly rotting the quarter panels away from the inside.

My first car was a NAD 405 my dad bought me. When I saw it I was gutted but after driving it I loved it. It felt so light and I loved the handling, hooked on pugs ever since.

you have every car on your list!
I will always have a soft spot for the 405! as it was the 1st car I drove around a private car park at 16 years of age.
got to be one of the best practical classics out there too! and a one that refuses to die!
