306 GTI-6 Front struts and springs on a HDI?

I have a 306 HDI Y Reg, soon to have a stage 1 with a full straight through. The only thing I want to improve on the car is the suspension. It sounds a bit knocky so instead of replacing with standard parts is there any improvement fitting the GTI front struts and springs? and are there any fitment issues?

They will fit fine, however as the engine in the GTI6 is a fair bit heavier than the HDi engine, it will sit about 15-20mm higher if not more

If you have a merdian then yes it will be an improvment. Though i wouldnt put gti springs on as it will make the car sit higher than it currently is due to the lighter engine. IIRC

Yeah as said GTi6 shocks might be an improvement but the springs will raise your ride height 10mm at least.

It also might not cure your knocking depending on whats knocking.

Cheers for the reply's, I will fit the GTI6 shocks and then play with different springs. Are the rear shocks worth messing around with? I will be leaving it standard height..

If they need replacing.. i'd definitely recommend some gaz adjustables for the rear

I put gti shocks and -40mm springs in my 1.9td lx and it sits sweet

I fitted Hdi spax shocks and springs to my gti6 and it dropped the same as it did on a Hdi i was expecting a bigger drop but didn't happen
