not a china rip off,bought direct from manufacturer ages ago and comes with manual book for all the numbers your 306 may encounter

i presume it can reset fault codes too?

yes it will read and erase them

does this just give the code number which you have to look up in the book
or does it give a description of the code too?

Any car obdII compatible in 306 terms will only work with the hdi engine
