Tell your mate that COLREGS state when the taker is operating with restricted maneuverability, he needs to give way. He was lucky not to be run down and sunk!

yep he was part of the crew on it so not his fault and he knows the rules. Yeh I sail loads. Used to be national squad and 29th in the world in 2008 or something. Now I sail a catamaran called a spitfire. Most epic sailing ever!

I wouldnt care who had "legal" right of way, i just know that something that much bigger than what i was in, i would be the one moving out of the way!

ah fair play. I do more on yachts, but occasionally mess about in dinghies. I did a round britain solo in 2008, unfortunately didn't finish though!

@connor, out at sea, tankers need to move out of the way cos they move so fast, but you should still keep a good look out!

sounds good to me mate :-) yeh I do team racing across the country now with university. Need to spend more time out on the cat. Was a sailing instructor for foreign kids all summer which was brilliant fun.

£8 an hour on the water and £5 on the land! Not too bad for a summer job with a free lunch and dinner in the manor! And the views are epic too!
