as far as i know, and this is from just reading other threads, the '6 back box will give you more backpressure than the standard hdi one as petrols breathe differently to diesels, especially turbo diesels. you want something thats designed for a turbo car and that will flow better. from what i've read, the gti back box wont do your performance any good.
if you're looking for an upgrade, of sorts, people swap the back box for a centre box due to the straight through design, and then weld the tip off a back box on to keep it looking standard

Yeah, sammas is spot on, you want a free flowing back box to give you less backpressure
