Hi recently bought a 306 cab and having starting issues it cranks but no fuel no spark tested pump with live feed and it works .bought a new ignition/fuel relay on the hope it was that but still no joy has been stood 6 years with flat battery. Could it be immobilizer stuck on ? Any ideas? Car is. A 2.0 16v

Hi Brocksey. Am new to the forum but know a little about the 2.0l 16v engines from working on my XSi's. There's a fair bit to check before concluding it's the immobiliser. You sound like you know a bit about cars so don't want to suggest you check the obvious if you've thought about that already. And have you got a multimeter?
Oh, and do you know any of the cab's history? Stupid question but do you know why it was taken off the road? Where are you in Lincs btw? I grew up near Bourne! Cheers, Jim

check the central locking fuse, seems to be a common fault on them, without seeing the car has unlocked the immobiliser wont disarm.

Brocksey, you should definitely follow Welshpugs advice ....have learned a LOT from reading his posts on various forums. His knowledge is incredible.

Welsh pug I've check all fuses and all seem intact and fine central locking works with key fob am i right in thinking the light near the air vent should flash ? I'm sure my old gti6 did

Near Louth eh ....never went there ....reminds me what a fookin' big county Lincs is!! So the fob you have works and locks/unlocks the car? Not sure the flashing light is critical as it seems to flash on one of my cars and not the other!

Sorry, just realised you said fob works. Will follow up on this another day ..gotta get some zzzz's now. Cheers
what Welshpug said ...had an issue one time when reconnected battery then opened drivers door to start car, not realising I'd then effectively activated the alarm ....except heard no alarm because the batteries will have died in the siren.

Morning Brocksey. Have re-read your OP. Have you got pressure at the fuel rail when ignition turned on 2 clicks and definitely no spark when cranking from any of the plugs on the coil pack?

Can't even hear the fuel pump when ya put ignition on and noticed Welsh pug said about indicators flashing on opening there is no flashing
Is there any way of resting the immobilizer i also know that snapon diagnostics won't read car could the immobilizer block the ECU from being read

Hi Brocksey. Others on here will have more experience of immobilisers than me. I don't even know if it cuts both spark & fuel. Anyone? Am wondering if it's possible either the BSI (let's ECU know correct transponder is present in the key) or the ECU itself are either not powered or earthed properly. 6 years being idle in anything but good dry storage could play havoc with earth points in particular. Have you checked you have power to, say, the idle control valve or TPS? From memory they should show 5v on loom. If nothing the ECU may not be powered or earthed.
I can't hear the pump priming on my XSi it's that quiet. Hence question about pressure at rail.
Sorry if I'm stating lots of obvious stuff you've already thought of. Feel free to be honest!

no bsi on a 306, only a central locking ecu with integrated transponder unit on RF equipped cars, where earlier cars are IR and have two separate units.

Arggh, frustrating, but at least you've discounted something else. Stick with it. Once she fires up you'll forget all the hassle ...maybe ....just!!!!
You're not the first and won't be the last as this previous thread shows. http://www.306oc.co.uk/forum/showthread....mmobiliser . It may give you some more ideas (e.g. inertia cut-off switch) but before that try disconnecting battery again for a bit (after putting up hood). Make sure doors & windows are closed when reconnecting. Lock & then unlock car using key fob before trying to do anything else. Make sure headlights definitely not flashing. Try starting it again. I honestly don't know if this is a useful suggestion, but hey, it only takes a few mins, so what the heck!!.
Re the ECU do you know of anyone who can plug in a decent scan tool? Not all will read the 306 as it's apparently not fully OBDII compliant. Or follow Eeore's advice in this thread http://www.306oc.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?tid=35709 .
In the unlikely case you can't get a response from the ECU & need to send it off to be checked or think it really is the immobiliser there are plenty of places out there to sort it, like this one http://www.cartechelectronics.com/ecu-services/ .
Good luck as I'm pretty sure I'm now out of helpful suggestions!!!

Checked the inerta switch? Big red button near the fuel relay.
What transmission? AL4 (electronic) or the ZF (T bar) The lever multi-switch on AL4's have a habit of playing up.
Have you ever had it running? if not check that there is a little silicon chip in the key.

Has been sounding like you need to take a little break from it anyway! ECU's are pretty reliable on these & well protected from power spikes etc so it should be OK. The ECU specialist I gave a link for were selling unlocked Bosch MP5.2 ECU's for your engine until quite recently so would think they're still able to deal with them if it comes to that.

Only the ZF box has it as it's built into the multi switch on the AL4 box.
They won't crank at all if this plays up.
Has any of the interior wiring been played with?
and fuses
F9 15amp
F11 10amp
also check the aerial fuse (5 amp) can't remember the fuse number.
