Do people use specific greases in their axles or just whatever they have lying around?

According to my Haynes Citroen ZX manual (the Owners Workshop Manual), there is a special grease called Mobil Temp G9 for the ARB end plates and seal lips on the tube ends. Although, it does say a good Molybdenum Disulphide grease can be used instead. Halfords sell it in tubs.
The Moly grease is also used on the splines, but I have used anti-seize compound in the past. 'Those' beams came to pieces easily (read - a couple of pulls on the slide hammer) when doing my annual check/regrease/replace seals.

Thanks for that, don't know why I didn't think of looking in the manual! I'll get myself one of those greases soon, then just need a few fixings etc from Peugeot and should be good to go.
