While having a mooch for the map in the XSI, I came across a couple of unplugged cables and a mystery thing.
Would anyone know what they are?

"Mystery thing" is the innetia switch. Yours looks a bit chewed. Could be worth taking a look at.
Number two needs to be a bit more specific.
Three is unused on all 306's IIRC.

Yeh that innertis switch has a ball bearing in it which bridges the circuit. If you're in a crash it cuts the power to something.

aha.. so thats what it is..! I was happily pushing the button while trying to work out what it was.
I think the previous owner had a mouse or something living under the bonnet, a few places have been chewed.
Cable#1 with the inertia switch goes through the hole into the firewall of the car.. will have to trace it another day.
picture#2 and 3 are the same cable, was found hanging where I've circled in red right under the inlet manifold.
Is it normal to have plugs disconnected? I think I've probably found 4-5 which I didn't take photos of
