Can't see it being worth the hassle to be honest, you can pick up a diesel so cheap anyway whats the point in messing around with a silly conversion??

Its possible but to do it would be cheaper to buy a diesel one.

I have no idea why people are saying it’s not worth it?

I would 100000% do a conversion if I had enough desire for the car.

Other conversions are particularly hard when going from petrol blocks to other petrol blocks with issues with driveshaft’s electrics etc, but the diesel will fit straight into the engine bay, apart from POSSIBLY the driveshafts, everything else can be used, you will need diesel engine mounts. Wiring is dead simple, exhaust will need to be made/bought as a stock DT, and a few hoses required. You’ll have issues with the clocks too.

I seem to remember a few of us doing a gti6 conversion to Dturbo on Ruans car in 1 day, and there were NO teething issues following, apart from the tacho….

Subframe needs a mount changing from TU engine to XU/XUD.

Other than that it's a case of swap fuel filler neck and pretty much everything else plugs in.

To be fair it would be good but it's a lot of time and effort so think I will try and find a xud powered car and break my petrol, I assume the non turbo xuds have shit internals compared to the dt lump

Yea the non-turbo's are shit.

I know someone who caught AIDS from driving a non-turbo, true story.

Coversion are of course doable. Insurance can be got. If you like it go for it.
