reverse sensor

Ive a 205 here what would be the best way to test the reverse light sensor on the box,if that isnt the problem what way would i wire the sensor to the lights(live from battary to lights,ground from battary to switch to back light?

Unplug the sensors cable (white I think) and put a meter set to continuity onto the sensor terminals. Then take it on and out of reverse. If the sensor is working the switch should close when in gear and open in neutral.
