Nankang NS2 - THE_Liam - 19-01-2013

Just got some Nimrods and I've been told 205/45/16 is the best size to go for, I was looking at Uniroyal Rainsports (because when is it ever dry?), best price I found was £312 for 4, but I've just seen a set of 4 brand new Nankangs for £175. I know they won't be as good, but are they anywhere near? I've heard rumours that Nankang have massively improved their tyres...

RE: Nankang NS2 - Ricky - 19-01-2013

Aren't these nicknamed ditch finders?

Re: Nankang NS2 - Dan! - 19-01-2013

Id go for 195's on nimrods personally, 205 is a slight oversize and means youll get floppy sidewalls round corners, not fun. As for nankangs, I would definitely avoid them. I had them on my Bora and the understeer was hilarious, literally terrible. I had some mid range firestones I think on the mazda and they were quite respectable. Tyres really are a case of you gey what you pay for.

RE: Nankang NS2 - Just Sean - 19-01-2013

kuhmo ku31's if on a budget mate. Are ace in the dry and wet

RE: Nankang NS2 - Ben - 19-01-2013

Definatly recommend 195's like Dan said. My Nimrods came with 205's on them and when I changed them to 195's the difference was very noticeable.

RE: Nankang NS2 - THE_Liam - 19-01-2013

Hmm, think I'll go for 195s then, slightly cheaper anyway. Had a quick look on eBay, Kumho KU31s are about £240 for a set of 4, are they good then Sean?

RE: Nankang NS2 - Just Sean - 19-01-2013

Yeah. I've had them on the pug and my nova. Dads had them on his 225 cupra r. Last well too from experience. Best budgets imo

RE: Nankang NS2 - puglove - 19-01-2013

Nagkangs are epicly shite. Last set i had were like plastic and gripped like plastic . Id rather have a perelli ditch finder over them. Plus in a 195 i can get toyo T1R's cheaper.

Also id go 195

RE: Nankang NS2 - Eeyore - 19-01-2013

ive got nankans on my cyclones. I thought they were pretty good but then again I have never had a full set of good tyres.

....how much can you get T1Rs for?!?! Fancy pointing me in the direction of the cheap Toyos? Angel

RE: Nankang NS2 - Curt - 19-01-2013

Kumho's are £210 http://www.camskill.co.uk/m62b0s94p0/Car_Tyres_-_MPV_Tyres_-_People_Carrier_Tyres_-_16_inch_R16_inch_-_195_45_16_195_45R16

As said, it's a case of you get what you pay for. I got 4 RS2's from Camskill for the Mazda for £160, benefit of 15's Tongue

RE: Nankang NS2 - puglove - 19-01-2013

Will have to ask my mate again, its one from ZSOC with a promo code, got 195/50/15 toyo's for £32each delivered

Nice one mate, if 195/45/16s are anywhere near that price I'll be having them!

RE: Nankang NS2 - puglove - 19-01-2013

16's will defo be more but im sure it will still be dirt

RE: Nankang NS2 - HDIkyle - 19-01-2013

I run them on the wellers only for FCS last year but were pretty sound. I run T1R's and also use these on my mums car and tbh for normal driving I can't say I notice any great improvment. T1R's are pretty shit in the wet anyway

RE: Nankang NS2 - miles - 20-01-2013

Another one are the Falken 914's, New tyre but the 912's where good for the price in both wet and dry, But no means to be used on track thou

RE: Nankang NS2 - Bananalad - 20-01-2013

I have nankangs and the car spins the wheels pretty easy lol

No, that's Pirelli P6000's

The NS2's aren't that bad for a budget tire tbh. I didn't have much trouble running them for a year wish before they outlasted the car
