Everything started on 11th July 2002 when I bought my second 306.
It looked like this:

Look forward to seeing more pictures. I loved my Cabriolet, despite not having the same handling characteristics and being terrible on fuel! It was still great to drive and the roof is fantastic.

Specs when I bought it:
Engine:
-1,6l TU5J4 engine with 72.000km
-247mm Breaks at front and drums at rear
Exterior:
- Typical phase2 look with H4 headlights, quite shabby with marks and dents all round.
- steel wheels
Interior:
- fabric seats
- standard heating

First plans were to
- debadge the bonnet and boot
- refresh the paint job
- get clear phase3 lights and fogs
- get a set of alloy wheels

Stage ONE:

Hopefully somewhere where a convertable is much more useful haha

I am from sunny Germany *joke* but nevertheless I enjoy the days with no rain and whenever it is dry, the roof is open Wink

That's a very late engine with the strange anti-polution device next to the crank case breather on the head. I never understood what it did or how it worked on mine!

Yes, it was an engine of a 2002 model with only 42k km down Wink

Later done some work on the engine and swapped the intake manifold to the gti6 one.
   
Also monted a E-Tech-Upper-Strut-Brace Wink Both bought in the 306GTI6.com Forum Big Grin

During the winter months started updating some things inside:
   
   

Stage FIVE: Bodywork again Tongue

Wanted to go for some more USA-Details and updated front and rear bumpers. Rear bumper was modified by an part of a BMW E46 Wink At front bumper were licence plate cutout and gaps smoothed. Also shortened a set of original S16 side skirts to make them fit to the cabby.
By the way removed door locks, aerial, wash mists on the bonet.

Had of the donor car still the complete AC-Setup, so decided to build it in Wink

interesting rear bumper mod, i quite like that. been thinking for ages that the rear bumper on a 306 is far too small!

How easy are the headlight washer setups to get hold of over there? A lot of us are very keen on adding them to our cars but they were never offered in the uk on any model...

Qite hard to get a complete set with covers. The platinum models got them as standard and sometimes you have a lucky day and grab a set at your local scrape yard or someone is breaking a car and selling parts.
Listed in the newbie thread the part numbers yon need Wink
Maybe I can get another set. Balancing at the price atm...

Stage SIX:

Sold my Phase3 bonnet and got a Phase2 one again. Had problems with the height at the washer-arms when opening it. After welding and zinc plating:
   

Also modified the bumpers: Front one was extended about 2" at the bottom and the rear one become an number plate tray which was plastic-welded into. Have used a part of an 307 and shortened it to fit US-number plate size.
   

By the way changed the boot for a Phase1 without 3rd braking light and smoothed it.
   

End of Summer the Cab went to the bodyshop where all the old paint was removed and a fresh basic layer of primer went on:
   
   

Had for a long time an idea in mind to change something at the interior and this was the moment to put into practice.
So went out to the scrapyard and bought some donor parts. It is still french and also PSA Big Grin But no more Peugeot Tongue

This car is brilliant, so much work and so much effort. I'd love a modified cabriolet but there's not much point over here. I'll stick to my motorbike for sunny days out!
