so yes, the most homosexual car ive ever seen, but i had to buy it as there so rare. its not for me btw, my sisters always wanted one so i saved it from the crusher for her haha
needs ALOT of cleaning as there's mold on every surface, but still it runs and everything works

behold the gayness

Never seen one before. Looks properly gay haha. Nice tent though! Does it have lower profiles on the back?

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 28-12-2012

there were less than 75 genuine rover 100 convertables ever made, only 23 left in existance now according to howmanyleft
not low profiles, just flat haha
1.4 k series engine, even had recent head gasket replacement just before it was scrapped

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - Ricky - 28-12-2012

Do you know why it was scrapped though?

Re: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - Tyronnster - 28-12-2012

So gay but so unique

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - Danny2009 - 28-12-2012

Sell me the bumpers and mirrors :p

Looks like a quite good example from the pictures

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 28-12-2012

its got some rust on the rear arches, handbrake doesn't work and its got hydro suspension that needs re-gassing.
but apart from that everything else looks sound, it was taxed up untill recently so im guessing it was ran until the mot ran out then scrapped

the interior is disgusting, the window wasn't all the way up so waters been getting in, moldy seats and it stinks, not my project though, my sister has to deal with the cleaning sine its her car lol

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - Danny2009 - 03-01-2013

Guess you don't want to sell me the bumpers then Wink

How you getting on with it

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 03-01-2013

All the manky interior came out today, found some rust, made a list of replacement parts. Not as bad as I expected tbh. If o can't get the engine running smoothly I think theres no other option other than to drop a 1.8 k series in and make a sport cabriolet Smile

went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ash240970 - 03-01-2013

Right - the seats should come up ok if done properly with a wet vac after scrubbing and anti fungicidal treatment then drying out with heat and I would take the carpet out and treat that the same as the seats - they need to be dried out thoroughly though so I suggest against a radiator I the house somewhere.
Once its all refitted and if any odours still remain ( highly likely) you can get an odour bomb that you set off in the car and it releases a smoke that penetrates the fibres killing off nasty niffs

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 03-01-2013

The seat covers are off and going in a low heat non spin cycle in the washing machine then will be wet vacd. All the plastic is getting scrubbed clean, orchards off and cleaned, like you said ash, carpet needs to come out as Its soaking and probably hiding rust. If my sister wants to spend some money on getting it upto show standard the roof will be getting retrimmed in that mohair stuff as the vinyl has perished a bit. Needs new rear arches welding in as there only held together by the paint on the outside lol. It's getting there though, should be ready for the summer Smile

Crying for and XUD. The Rover 200's and 400's came with XUD7's, can these be made to fit in that?

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - 1616six - 03-01-2013

these arent that rare are they?

There was a pink one on ebay in my village for £500 but it never sold, still for sale IIRC

Couple of dark green ones around the area too.

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 03-01-2013

Theres plenty of home made and coachbuilt convertibles around, its the genuine rover ones that are rare. Only 23 left now. As for the engine, its upto my sister, her car, I'm thinking of trying to get an xud in my mini project though....

proctas here,
there a few on the metro owners club, iam sure they did a late mk3 version ( my front end) with the gti kit on, ( these are very very rare.) mite have even had the 1.4 16v engine in too.
some of the cabbie owners drop the interiors from the gti lux into these. which were half leather. the rest of the car is metro/R100. so they do get the vvc engine convertions etc too.
some of the cabbie bits are hard to find. i know the floor pan is like the mgf with the strengthers.
one was restored by an mg metro cup racer while ago, looked like it was brand new!
also you think metros have bad crash ratings, you dont want to see the cabs crash ratings,
iam not a fan of these, infact a poor mans mgf springs to mind when i see these.
mite have been made to compete agains that corsa cab thing.

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 03-01-2013

thats a nice idea about the gti lux seats, il keep an eye out. im not a huge fan of this car either tbh, its my sisters responsibility now, im just fixing it up cos i like that bit haha
its something different so a nice challenge to get it looking like new again Smile

they are quiet hard to get hold of now, as nearly every body wants them.
they are easy enough to work on ( easier than the minis) just dont go anywhere near the suspention side of things with out a hydrolastic pump.
as for dropping an 1.8 in. you gonna have to sorce a mpi R100 engine loom to make it plug in play. any more info just ask.

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 04-01-2013

so heres the current situation. all the interior is out, scubbing up fairly well at the moment the carpet might even be savable after a few runs with the wet vac, also qiuite pleased that the only rust is isolated to one area on the rear arches which is good, no hidden horror under the carpet.
im not sure about the state of the suspension yet, have a feeling it needs either re-gassing or rebuilding, havnt had the wheels off to check the state of it yet.

easy to repair, just drop the rear subframe down and remove the tank, check the boot floor corners and inner archs too, also i hope you havent binned the clear plastic from the doors? as thats your water sheld from stopping the water getting thru to the interior!

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 05-01-2013

I didn't take the plastic out, the door cards were on the back seat for some unknown reason. My mate was over today to start welding new subframe mount plates on as they had rusted along with the arches.

have you removed the side skirts? as they can hide some nastys!
also get the underneath undersealed like you do with the mini, as these can be like minis mind with the floors.

only thing dan with mini and metro garages, is that they look after the mk1 and mk2 metros, as they ran mini bits, where mine and his cabbie are more rover than mini, mines more mgf than rover metro at the front now.

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 05-01-2013

Havnt had the skirts or bumpers off yet to check for rust, but I will be. Looking through the service history this car has already had a fair bit of welding done because of rust so im hopeful that its only the rear arches and subframe mounts. that have gone. Got loads of waxol and underseal stocked up from doing the minis Smile
I know about that place in brum dan, buy my panels from there Smile

i was told that the R100s had weaker floor pans and poor rust protection compaired to the mk1s right up to the mk3, only thing i found was the sponge like shite that made up the inner arch interior acts like a sponge. this is on the earlier metros. every one i checked the back was shot! best soild metros are the non sunroof mk3 rios. iam thinking on resheling mine at some point.

RE: went to the scrappy for 306 parts, bought this instead - ozonehostile - 06-01-2013

started the welding over the weekend

fuel tank needs dropping out before this side can be done
[Image: IMAG0574_zps3f676d25.jpg]

got the other side nicely welded up though, pretty good color match with the paint after too which is good, found a fair bit of filler when prepping the area though
[Image: IMAG0573_zpse54c386a.jpg]

oh, and the donar for plates, a door from my mates astra gsi haha
