306 hdi adding intercooler - Welshy_Pete - 28-12-2012

I might be thinking about adding a intercooler to my 306 hdi.

What gains or diffrences would I notice?

Also apart from fitting the kit what other things need changing a remap for it all to work properly?

Adding ibtercooler can helpsm with fuel burning, mine was smokey before adding intercooler its probs helped with mpgs too if its not smoking
In regards to power youll need a remap to get the most out of it.

As above. Also, theres a massive thread on this in the guide section, should amswer amy other questions youve go.

On a standard car you probably won't notice much. Maybe more mpg and a bit more power/torque, maybe 5% more...

On a stage 1 remap, much the same as above.

To really make the best of it you need a remap specifically for it.

You'll pretty much hit 145bhp/240lbft with a good standard clutch and exhaust and it'll run clean as a whistle.

If you want more of either you need to start thinking about modding the exhaust/clutch ideally.

I've got an Intercooler for my hdi but being the 90bhp I was told I need a c5 bottom boost pipe and a 307 hdi top inlet?

You do indeed.

yeh or a 406 top inlet elbow. After that its all universal intercooling bits. Some rave about mikalor clamps and others hate them so no real advice. Beading the pipes would be a good idea if they keep popping off. Depends if youre running silly boost!

I haven't got it on yet I'm new to 306's and I brought one off the exact same car then when it came to fitting I was very confused

Mikalor clamps are better but are tight/too big to fit in around the rad so having a few decent jubilees will be good to have.

RE: 306 hdi adding intercooler - Poodle - 18-08-2014

Just buy decent jubilees, you'll never need anything better this side of 30psi if you put the intercooler piping together properly and the price of mikalors is stupid. Have a look in the guide section, there's a couple of threads that cover intercooling pretty comprehensively.
