My track toy - Blandy - 14-12-2012 Been on here a while now so thought id get a project thread on the go. This is the 2nd 306 ive owned the first being a Gti-6 a few years ago now but at the time i added the usual big wheels, loud exhaust and lowered it which i liked at the time but wouldnt go the same way this time After a few months i got bored and wanted something faster so sold it and got a mr2 turbo.. Now a good few years later a bit more grown up i decided i missed having a "fun" car to play with i went on the hunt to find something cheap to buy, run and maintain and mainly just to have some fun in as a play thing and to get out on track as all my previous projects have been all about style/bhp figures and not really concentrating on actually being useable. So spent a while deciding between a civic type r, clio 182 and a Rallye and the Rallye won. pul I picked up a rather used 181,000 mile white rallye which unfortunately wasnt in exactly great health engine wise Tapping away and a difficult clutch but on the + side the body (- heavy bumper and bonnet chips) seeemed in pretty good shape and i had my heart set on a white rallye and id already paid a deposit over the net so the car was purchased After a 2hour drive home the engine sounded as bad as ever and pulling away at low speeds was just horible and would be no good in its current state so had to decide on a plan so began ripping it apart this would explain why the engine moves so much and engine is out Bit of surface rust removal and a coat of contrasting paint Whilst the engines out i stripped the interior to shed as much easy weight as pos While deciding on what to do engine wise i got a few nice bits including a new front bumper as wrecked the old one as mountings were rusted solid. Some black mask headlights, smooth grill and a fibreglass bonnet Wannabe track toy - Jonny b - 14-12-2012 Looks good bud road legal or strictly track? RE: Wannabe track toy - Blandy - 16-12-2012 will be another gti lump going in with throttle bodies to begin with and I'll use that as it and I'll eventually plan to then rebuild my original lump but that will be a while RE: Wannabe track toy - Blandy - 16-12-2012 Most up to date exterior shot with freshly painted bumper, Got some work to do tidying up the fibreglass grill and then that along with the bonnet will also be painted RE: Wannabe track toy - procta - 17-12-2012 looking well, are you rebuilding the engine or sorcing a replacement lump? also btcc spec it RE: Wannabe track toy - Blandy - 17-12-2012 currently having a 2nd hand lump go in to get me up and running but will be building the old lump myself but yet to decide on spec but it will be far from standard RE: My track toy - Blandy - 18-12-2012 Received some pics from miles aka pug racing who currently has the car for and is putting a supplied 2nd hand engine and rebuilt gearbox in the car My track toy - Jonny b - 18-12-2012 Coming together nicely buddy! RE: My track toy - Blandy - 19-12-2012 thanks looking forward to actually driving it as in 3 months off ownership I've driven it home and had a 5 min drive few days later and then took the engine out so be nice to get behind the wheel again RE: My track toy - Blandy - 22-12-2012 couple more pics courtesy of Miles now I've managed to upload them RE: My track toy - Garaculas - 23-12-2012 White rallye!
